Vitamins Write For Us
Vitamins write for us: A vitamin is a micronutrient that an organism needs in little amounts to keep its metabolism running smoothly. Vitamins C can be synthesized by some species but not by others; it is not a vitamin in the first instance but is in the second. The diet is the only source of vitamin C that can be easily obtained from the body.
The three other essential nutrients, minerals, essential fatty acids, and essential amino acids, are not included in the phrase vitamins. Most vitamins are made up of vitamers, which are groups of linked molecules. Vitamin E is made up of eight vitamers: four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Some sources list fourteen vitamins, including choline, while others list thirteen. Iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium, selenium, bromine, manganese, riboflavin, thiamine, folic acid or folate, vitamins B1 (thiamine), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), and B6 (pantothenic acid) are all necessary vitamins (pyridoxine)Excess and excess intake of a vitamin can potentially cause clinically significant illness. Vitamin D regulates mineral metabolism in bones and other organs in a hormone-like manner. The B complex vitamins serve as cofactors (coenzymes) for enzymes or as precursors to enzymes. Excess water-soluble vitamin consumption is less likely to do so.
Before 1935, the sole source of vitamins was government-mandated vitamin fortification to staple foods like bread or milk to prevent deficiency. Commercially made yeast-extract vitamin B complex and semi-synthetic vitamin C pills became accessible in the 1950s, and folic acid intake during pregnancy was recommended to lessen the incidence of baby neural tube abnormalities.
Vitamins write for us: Vitamins were coined in 1912 by Polish biochemist Casimir Funk, who discovered a complex of micronutrients needed to live, all of which he assumed to be amines. It “e” was deleted from the name after it was discovered that this assumption was incorrect. Between 1913 and 1948, all vitamins were found (identified).
